About Ruth

My Story

In many ways, I've been working toward this career for most of my adult life. I took an aerobics class in college and was hooked on the leggings and leotard life! After a bit of trial and error, I was thrilled to be admitted to the Master's Program in Health/Fitness Management (now Health Promotion Management) at The American University, one of the first programs of its kind in the country. From there, I took my new skills to the National Council on the Aging, where I developed health education programs geared toward our aging population. One of my most proud accomplishments was convincing the organization's Board of Directors to decline a health-related grant from The Phillip Morris Company. Back in 1990, that was pretty bold!

As the mom of three daughters, it was important to me to not only provide healthy meals but to teach them the importance of good nutrition, exercise and self-care. Twenty-three years ago, my approach was to make a carrot cake for my daughter's first birthday and allow her to hand out Halloween candy but not let her eat it! Fortunately, we know so much more now, and have so many more choices for raising healthy families.

Fast forward to today....I am a certified Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and have additional training in holistic healing and essential oils. I would love to meet with you to discuss your concerns for yourself, your children, your parents,  your family. Together, we can come up with a plan that works best for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

In good health,

Ruth
